A secret wartime hideaway has been discovered underground in a Middlesbrough back garden. Stunned Chris Scott got more than he bargained for when he decided to investigate what lay hidden beneath the “drain cover” behind his Marton Avenue home. After draining out the cavity for two days with builder Tony Sizer, they discovered an extensive Second World War bunker consisting of two rooms with solid concrete walls and two escape hatches. It is thought the secret hideout was used to accommodate the 100 or so people living on his street. Chris Scott who found an abandoned bunker in his back garden at Marton Avenue, Middlesbrough. The bunker stretches under his neighbour's garden and has a second escape shaft. The second shaft that leads to a neighbour's garage.
